Elderly Coupled Trapped In Their Home
New details have been released about a planned surf and water park with hotel, slides, bungalows & lagoons and also commercial components in Pinal County near Maricopa!
A new 71-acre surf and water park with lagoons and a retail and hotel district has been proposed for the city of Maricopa, a small city located about an hour south of Phoenix.
Touted as a “world-class entertainment and lifestyle venue”, the site will comprise a large water park, two surf lagoons, a retail and hotel district, surf villas and a surf center and academy, according to documents obtained by Buzaz.
Planned Surf and Water Park
The PHX Surf property is located on a large vacant parcel of land that is near Loma and Green roads and State Route 238 and Garvey Avenue adjacent to an existing cattle farm and east of the existing APEX Motor Club private racetrack.
It will also be developed in the middle of several planned housing projects such as Flatz 520, Hogenes Farms, Moonlight Ridge and Innovation Villas. The city’s website shows that the developer, Mesa-based PHX Surf LLC, is requesting to rezone the site for the project.

The 71-acre facility will include two surf lagoons of about five acres each (WHAT?). There will also be a bike pump track, a ‘LAZY RIVER’, and even water slides. Also they will offer a FULL spa and HUGE outdoor concert stage for musical guests. The evening will be filled with adult activities also, including live music and surfing under the lights.
There is also an upscale hotel in the works (planning stage anyway) which will include 80 rooms to sit between the lagoons, plus separate villas and a 30-site campground so many guests to bring their own RVs to the park and enjoy. This is unique and the developers cite this as a way to- “the project to capitalize on various types of guests demand from throughout the world. PHX surf expects guests from not just the state of Arizona or other nearby states, but world-wide, who will come to stay and play with direct access to the surf, beach, aquatic experiences and more.”
2 ‘wave pools’ will be added to lagoons of the attraction that will ascetically tie in to the lazy river, water slides, a bike pump track, a spa, dining, retail, a 3-star hotel and a concert venue. Each of the two wave pools will be around 3.5 acres. The technology that will power the wave pools is unknown, but the developers are aiming for a “world-class surf experience”. Based on the drawings, the wave pools look likes other pools powered by Surf Loch technology, though it could be one of the other newer technologies (probably not Wavegarden).
The Maricopa City Council approved the land sale agreement and a lease agreement back on May 18th 2021, which gives the developers a total of 70 acres to work with. Three entities purchased the land: PRLG Holdings LLC bought 18 acres for $1.18 million, Copa Surf LLC bought 21 acres for $1.38 million and E Jaicks LLC bought 20 acres for $1.30 million. The city will own and lease the remaining 12 acres. As part of the agreement, residents will be entitled to a 10% discount at the venue. WOO-HOO WE GET A DISCOUNT Y’ALL!!!
This is a VERY exciting addition to the growing Desertcropolis that is Maricopa. Bringing in much needed activities and more importantly, JOBS, to our little city of 60,000+.
